It’s a triple-threat Wednesday for comedy locally. There’s a great live show at The Empty Glass, a Podcast and a video. Check ’em out…

Carlos Valencia

Carlos Valencia

First up, we have a night of comedy at The Empty Glass with regional headliner Carlos Valencia, musician Vincent Elliot, and also featuring local comedy favorite Ryan Carrier. Hosted by Patrick “Madman” Felton.

In addition to his stint featuring for Doug Stanhope’s Dirty Comedy, Valencia has performed comedy in over 30 states from Washington to Florida in comedy clubs, colleges, theaters, casinos, boats, taverns, watering holes, churches, diners, coffee shops, prisons, military bases, bowling centers, back alleys, redneck bars, punk rock clubs, hip-hop joints, and heavy metal dives – with some of the biggest names in comedy – and on some of the most prestigious comedy festivals in the country.

Ryan Carrier is one of the most respected and sought after comedians in Charleston’s nascent comedy scene. Nicknamed “Charleston’s favorite suicidal feminist” Ryan’s comedy draws on his inherent awkwardness with the world around him and ranges in subject from death, to poverty, to kittens, his love for the Kanawha Valley, to his long history of emotional rejection by lesbians.

Vincent Elliott is the frontman for The Safe Side, Charleston’s tallest punk band. They are the top-grossing one-quarter Canadian friendship-core band in the area (probably). According the PR, Vincent usually brings his dumb friends with him, and a splendid time is guaranteed for all. Cover is ten bucks and the show starts at 10 PM.

Starting at 10 PM, but archived for later listening, the guys bring on guest Cee-Jay Jones, who will be at the Comedy Zone Charleston Friday and Saturday. Darik Santos from season 9 of America’s Got Talent also on the show.  You can listen to The Charleston Comedy Podcast live HERE and also find past episodes HERE.

Here’s what the Comedy Podcast folks tell us about tonight’s guest, ” One of the hottest, freshest comics to hit the comedy scene. Cee – Jay is wild and totally outrageous, with a style of comedy that is all his own. His stage presence, quick wit, high energy and rapid fire delivery keeps his audiences laughing non-stop from the moment he hits the stage. In Cee – Jay’s world nothing is off limits. He gives you his perspective on how he sees the world, and when he does…..YOUR WORLD WILL NEVER BE THE SAME! He’s appeared on BET’s Comic View and Showtime’s At the Apollo. Don’t miss your chance to see one of comedy’s new rising stars.”

Also on the program Darik Santos from season 9 of America’s Got Talent! Live at 10 pm eastern time! Call in at 347-308-8648!

Lastly, we are finally getting around to finishing up editing the hours of footage we shot at ShockaCon almost two months ago. First up with have a compilation of stand-up comedy from the horror/sci-fi convention. Sadly, this compilation does not include all the comedians. There was so much stuff going on that we missed a couple. Our apologies go out to them, and to Chris Carrier, who I’m pretty sure we label as Andy Frampton.
