Comic books, movies, toys and all things that make the nerdy little boys sigh were all in abundance at the big Comic Con this weekend. Among the coolness were things like Hasbro’s upcoming 12″ Indiana Jones action figure (right) and buttloads of movie trailers for upcoming film epics. Loads more news came out of the International Comic Con in San Diego this week, and you can follow the links after the jump to catch up on all the hottest news from the world of pop culture. Mark Evanier, who hosted several panels, has a quick take here, and will have more of his perspective at his blog later in the week.
Newsarama, who have all kinds of cool news about things like artist P Craig Russell working on an adaptation of one of Neil Gaiman’s prose Sandman stories, and Image Comics reviving the comic books that Jack Kirby created for Pacific and Topps Comics back in the 80s and 90s, have compiled all their San Diego coverage into a handy-dandy mega index.
Comic Book Resources has info on DC’s Vertigo line and a new coalition of independent publishers. Heidi MacDonald’s The Beat has tons more news and links and multi-media content. I can’t recommend her blog highly enough. Over at Silver Bullet Comics, the All The Rage gossip column is based at San Diego this week.
On the movie front, IGN has a pretty comprehensive collection of articles covering things like the next season of Family Guy, the Jericho DVD, and tons of other movie, comic book and toy news. USA Today even sent their Pop Candy blogger, Whitney Matheson, to cover the big show.
That ought to be enough links to keep you guys from getting any work done today. I’ll bring you more fallout from San Diego later in the week, once the dust settles.
