It’s another week with a ton of stuff going on and lots of cool things to talk about, so we’re doing the randomosity thing this week. Study this carefully, there will be a test at the end.
Another Shirt Drive for a Local Filmmaker
Austin Susman is gearing up to turn his short film, “Bike Cops of Haycraft City” into a feature film. To raise funds, he has turned to Booster. You can support Austin’s efforts by chipping in to buy a shirt, plus you get a cool shirt out of the deal. You can hit up the Booster site HERE. “Antigone” At The Alban
Beginning Friday, the Alban Arts Center presents Sophocles Ancient Greek Tragedy, “Antigone.” (full disclosure: Your PopCulteer’s significant other is in the cast). This classic play can be seen Friday and Saturday, April 25, 26 and May 2, 3 at 8PM, with Sunday Matinees on April 27 and May 4 at 2PM. Tickets are $15 for Adults and $10 for Students/Seniors. This should be another stellar production from The Alban. The clip above was shot Sunday afternoon, and can also be seen in the latest episode of Radio Free Charleston.
Sasha Colette at Dunber Lanes
The amazing voice of Sasha Colette will fill the air at The Lane 13 Taproom at Dunbar Lanes Friday night. it’s a great chance for a night of wonderful music and cheap bowling. Sasha co-starred in the film, “Trace Around Your Heart” and she has been a guest on several episodes of Radio Free Charleston. This is a great chance to catch her music in a cool new setting. Sasha will be performing from 9 PM to Midnight. Four bucks gets you in the door.
Elephant In The Room Debuts
Donnie Smith just appeared on Radio Free Charleston 197, and his new band, elephant In The Room, headlines tonight at The Blue Parrot tonight with support from future RFC guests, Little Nomad and 3 headed Hydra. Three Musketeers Onstage

Rock At The Skatepark
There is a very cool show scheduled to happen at The Next Level Sk8Park in Nitro Friday. Weather permitting the show will start at 5 PM. It’s a killer line-up of bands, including RFC guests, Miniature Giant. Five bucks gets you in for the music, ten bucks means you can skate, too. Check out the flyer…
The 2014 Elk River Music and Arts Festival
A two-day music festival kicks off tomorrow evening at 6 PM in Sutton at the Historic Elk Hotel. The 2014 Elk River Music and Arts Festival is to raise money for the historic Elk Theatre in Sutton, WV. Last year’s festival helped raise the money to secure a loan for the Elk Theatre’s new projector. This year they are trying to raise money to help this small business pay back their loan. They will also be taking food donations and donating some of the proceeds to the local food pantry.

Total Meltdown at Bruno’s
One of the area’s coolest bands, Total Meltdown, will appear for free at Bruno’s on Leon Sullivan Way, starting at 9 PM. I think they could best be described as “Bluegrass Fusion.” We are currently trying to work out our schedules so we can get these guys on Radio Free Charleston. Check out a couple of their videos…
The Wrap Up
That’s not all that’s going on Friday. Southern Culture On The Skids will be at The Empty Glass, but word is that advance ticket sales are so strong that they may already be near capacity. Breedlove returns to the scene at BoDaddy’s in South Charleston, behind the Mound, Friday and Saturday at 10 PM. Born Old brings their old-time music to Taylor Books, with no cover, at 7:30 PM. Deadface Down and Electric Funeral will be at The Boulevard Tavern at 10 PM with a five-dollar cover.
