We kick off this week with a pastel drawing (with a little watercolor help) based on a photo I took of the 2007 WVSO production of Carmen. Mel sang in that (as Mercedes) and I shot tons of photos of the dress rehearsal for a series of photo essays in PopCult.

{You can read those, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. I did a bunch of those buggers. I am in the process of restoring these with larger images and I may eventually consolidate these all into one post.}

Back to this week’s art, once I had the pastel drawing (with a little watercolor) I scanned it, but having learned my lesson from scanning pastel before, this time I placed a piece of clear plastic (okay, so it was a comic book bag) underneath it. This threw off the color balance a little, so I did some digital tweaking, and applied a bit of a canvas texture while I was at it. The original was drawn on smooth airbrush paper.

If you want to see it bigger, just click on the image.

Meanwhile, Monday at 9 AM on The AIR, we bring you five special love-themed episodes of Prognosis, Curtain Call, The Swing Shift, MIRRORBALL and Bealtles Blast.  That’s to get you in the mood for the impending romantic holiday weekend.  Then you can tune into a recent episode of  Prognosis at 3 PM.

Due to the lockdown in the UK, the Haversham Recording Institute programs will likely be in rerun mode for the next six weeks or so, with the possible exception of one episode of Sydney’s Big Electric Cat, which Sydney Fileen has promised us is almost finished.

You can hear Prognosis on The AIR Monday at 3 PM, with replays Tuesday at 7 AM, Wednesday at 8 PM, Thursday at Noon, Saturday at 10 AM and Sunday at 2 PM.

You can listen to The AIR at the website, or on the embedded radio player at the top of the right-hand column of this blog.
