Half of The Pistol Whippers

Half of The Pistol Whippers

This week we re-present the very first Radio Free Charleston Halloween Special. It was also our first two-part episode and was our most elaborate production with a script, actors, stunts, special effects and a cliffhanger halfway-through. We have remastered and combined episodes seven and eight into one long show (which is actually still shorter than many of our shows are these days) and bring them to you once again, fully restored.

Whistlepunk

Whistlepunk

Over the course of these two episodes you will see the RFC debut of The Concept, Whistlepunk returns with a second song from the very first RFC recording session at LiveMix Studio, Professor Mike, Guy and Dirt from The Pistol Whippers (who will reunite next week at The Empty Glass Halloween Hootenanny–November 2) and a music video created by Frank Panucci for his remix of “Heads On Fire” by the legends of The Charleston Playhouse, Clownhole.

Animation includes “Paranoid Toaster” by RFC host Rudy Panucci and RFC Big Shot, Brian Young, plus two installments of “Pentagram Flowerbox,” which are newly-restored to Radio Free Charleston as per the deathbed request of Third Mind Incarnation, who also wanted his real identity concealed. You can also expect to see Captain Action and some very strange public service announcements.

Ghost Rudy

Plus the show’s host, Rudy Panucci, gets killed at the end of the first part, and hosts the second part as a ghost. Clever details, like the way his wardrobe reverses color when he dies, and his DEVO shirt turns into a Bob Dobbs shirt were apparently not clever enough to be noticed, so they’re being pointed out here. RFC’s Resident Diva, Melanie Larch, makes her on-screen debut near the end of the show.

With this new compilation, all of the Radio Free Charleston Halloween shows are online. Sunday we will offer up a one-stop post that collects them all in one place, because you’d probably rather watch that instead of The Walking Dead or something.

Original production notes for these shows can be found here and here.
