I never know what to call the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Luckily, it doesn’t matter what you call it, there’s still plenty of stuff to do tonight. We told you about “MARY A Rock Opera” earlier in the week when we brought you the latest RFC MINI SHOW, but there’s more going on in town.
From 10 AM to 9 PM Dunbar Lanes, the hippest bowling alley in the state, celebrates their first anniversary with dollar hotdogs and dollar games (per person). Bring in a canned food donation for a free shoe rental.
At 2 PM, Larry Wilson will be performing gospel music at the Captiol Rotunda with Adam Crabb and Chris Deskins. There is no charge, so go check it out so they don’t feel silly singing to themselves in the Capitol building.
At 4 PM, The Nitro Antique Mall will hold their annual open house. There will be hourly giveaways, discounts as high as 70% and free comics, plus comic and card appraisals upstairs at Third Floor Comics. This runs until 9 PM.
Free music tonight includes Spencer Elliott, James Archer and Sean Richardson at Bluegrass Kitchen at 7 PM. Spencer will probably play this tune…
…more free music sees George Robertson at Taylor Books at 7:30 PM and an open mic hosted by Will Jones at Crumbpeckers in Saint Albans at 9 PM.
The V Club in Huntington plays host to a Music Matters benefit starting at 8 PM. A ten-dollar donation gets you in to see a killer line-up of bands who are all pitching in to help a friend. In early September, Matthew Marshall was in an automobile accident and has had to undergo weeks in the ICU and rehabilitation therapy. Thankfully, Matthew has bounced back and has been building a up normal routine. The Sly kids, local bands, and local businesses are coming together on November 30th to raise money to offset Matthew’s medical expenses. Doors will open at 7 PM and music starts at 8. They will be auctioning off items and raffle prizes will be given away throughout the night. Music includes Aaron Brown, The Modock Rounders, mycity, Killing Hymn, The Dead Frets, Warzawa, AC30, Deadbeats and Barkers andDJ Franklin F’n Furnace .
It’s some of Huntington’s best and brightest, all coming together for a great cause.
Here in Charleston, Freak Tent Jr. will share the stage with The Snake and The Pot (as seen on RFC 181) at The Boulevard Tavern at 10 PM with a five-dollar cover. Across town at The Empty Glass, Blistered Nifkin and Rockwell’s Ghost perform at 10 PM with a seven-dollar cover.
