The video you see above is Lady D, Doris Fields, performing her song “Go Higher” at the Unitarian Universalist Church last February. We included this great inspirational tune in episode 37 of Radio Free Charleston. As you may have heard, this song was chosen in a national Internet poll to be performed at one of the Inaugural Balls for Barack Obama in a few weeks.

However, some money needs to be raised to send Lady D and her band to Washington D.C.  There are a couple of fundraising shows this weekend, and for full details direct from the Charleston WV Blues Society, follow the jump.

The Charleston WV Blues Society is kicking off the new year with two fund-raising events for our own, Lady D! Her song, “Go Higher” was chosen as the best Obama inaugural song and now she is invited to perform at one of the inaugural events. This proposition is going to take quite a bit of money and we want to help defray the cost of Lady D and her band, MI$$ION attending this historic event. Since it is not a paid gig, Lady D and band will have to provide their own transportation and lodging. You can help by attending one of these fundraisers or sending a donation directly to the Charleston WV Blues Society.
Your donation, of course, will be tax deductible! Help send one of our own to the nation’s capital to REPRESENT!
