We are going to attempt to cram every Halloween episode of Radio Free Charleston into this one post, just to get you ready for the day of scaring and candy and stuff. In the clip above we go all the way back to our first Halloween special, in 2006. Orginally a two-parter, these shows have since been combined into one longer clip.

This was our first attempt to do something more ambitious than our normal video jukebox-type show, and in it you will see skits with me, Mel Larch and Brian Young, short films by Frank Panucci, Third Mind Incarnation and Brian Young, and music by Whistlepunk, The Concept, Professor Mike, Clownhole and half of The Pistol Whippers.

You’ll get to see me get killed and ressurected, plus there are ghosts and spirits and really cool posters for monster movies that they sold at Dollar Tree back when they carried really cool stuff. These were originally episodes 7 and 8 of Radio Free Charleston‘s video incarnation.

2007

Recorded at a Halloween Party at Capitol Roasters (RIP). Music from Big Money and Lil’ Guy.

2008

This year saw more elaborate host segments as we presented a two-parter called “Radio Free Charleston Horror Theater:

We had so much fun that, for April Fool’s Day 2009, we did Part Three!

We continue our look back at Radio Free Charleston’s Halloween shows with our 2009 episode, considered by many to be our best episode with tons of guests ranging from The No Pants Players to Mark Wolfe, and music by Unknown Hinson and Flare Baroshi, among others.

2010

In 2010 we brought you an extended preview of my still-unfinished Zombie-Noir epic, “Jazz From Hell.”

2011

In 2011, we didn’t do a Halloween show, and for the life of me, I can’t remember why. We did complie a “Best of Halloween” special, which ran in this space last week.

In 2012 and 2013 we recorded our Halloween shows at ShockaCon, and you can find them in recent editions of The RFC Flashback: We did one show in 2012, but in 2013 we split the show into part one and part two, and we also recorded RFC MINI SHOWS with HARRAH and The Renfields.

In 2014 we decied to return to the glory days, and created the Radio Free Charleston Halloween Spectacular, with our guests Mark Wolfe, Kitty Killton, Penny Maple, and Mic Bradford all gathered around a Quija board. Mark guest-directed the host segments, which feature camera work by Mark and Melissa Bradford.

Our musical guests were Radio Cult, The Jasons, Possum Kingdom Ramblers and HarraH. You can read the full production notes HERE.

2015 saw our last RFC Halloween video show to date. A few months after this your humble host was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, and has had to cut back the video version of the show back to one show per year. However, this was a fun, if half-assed effort, and you never know when the RFC video show may decide to make a surprise return.
