PopCult congrats go out to Joshua Runyon and Patrick Felton, who each won a pair of tickets to tonight’s IWA East Coast show in Nitro. This is going to be a great return to glory for the legendary local wrestling federation as international stars, Low Ki, Necro Butcher, Mad Man Pondo and IWA EC Champ, Chris Hero, leap into action. Bell time is 8 Pm, with a 7 PM meet and greet, for an extra five bucks.

Above you see our third anniversary show. In honor of Radio Free Charleston’s fifth anniversary show we’re re-visiting our third anniversary show, “Unknown Hinson Shirt,” which was also our 75th episode. This special show, hosted from the late, lamented LiveMix Studio, featured music by Unknown Hinson and The Pistol Whippers, plus a snippet of Option 22. We also had congratulatory messages from Ann Magnuson, Necro Butcher and Mad Man Pondo (who will both appear in Nitro for IWA East Coast Tuesday Night–enter the contest before Midnight Sunday), Gypsy Joe, Oderous Urungus from GWAR, Kevin Pauley from The No Pants Players (also appearing in Nitro Tuesday Night, and with the entire NPP, The Alban Theater next Saturday), Bull Pain and many others. Enjoy!
IWA East Coast Returns (and you can see it on us!)

If you saw our big fifth anniversary episode of Radio Free Charleston then you already know the rather simple rules. All you have to do is send an email with your name and contact information to rfciwacontest@gmail.com.
The deadline for entry is 11:50 PM Sunday, July 10. We will randomly select two winners on Monday, and each winner can pick up a ticket for them self and a guest Tuesday evening at KIng’s Way Outreach Center (formerly Nitro High School) in Nitro. Bell time is 8 PM, with a 7 PM meet and greet. Continue reading
At the head of this post, you see our bloated and self-indulgent fifth anniversary episode of Radio Free Charleston. When we first started doing Radio Free Charleston as a video web show, there was no guarantee that we would even make it to the end of our first year. So it’s gratifying to have hit this milestone, because on the Internet, five years is an eternity.
However, I have to level with you. I almost didn’t see this milestone coming. The previous three weeks have seen me consumed with recording and producing our special FestivALL episodes of RFC. This didn’t leave me any time at all to plan an anniversary show. I really wanted to take July off.
Radio Free Charleston has not always observed our anniversary. The first anniversary of the show fell in the middle of a hiatus we took due to a family health crisis. I don’t think we really paid any attention until episode 75, which coincided with our third anniversary in 2009. Continue reading
Sunday Evening Videos returns with a special compilation of all eight FestivALL 2011 episodes of Radio Free Charleston. Pop some popcorn, turn off you phones and maybe keep a unrinal near the computer as you spend three hours of you life staring at your monitor so you can relive FestivALL 2011!

FestivALL 2011, That’s A Wrap!
Up at the top of today’s PopCulteer you will find the eighth and final episode of Radio Free Charleston’s video rewind of FestivALL 2011. FestivALl is such a wonderful part of Charleston that we felt it deserved extensive coverage. And extensive it was, with just under three hours of FestivALL crammed into our eight-episode trip through the art.
I hope our loyal RFC viewers can appreciate what a ridiculous undertaking this was. Your PopCulteer has been slaving away at the editing computer for the last two weeks, getting by with only a couple of hours of sleep a night, just so we could bring you our take on FestivALL 2011 as quickly as possible.
Of course, we had a good reason for doing things this way. We knew that if we didn’t get this stuff out to you as soon as possible we’d run a good risk of having it languish on one of our hard drives, unseen by human eyes.
