Monday Morning Art: A Rough Part of Chicago

Above you see a very rough and small drawing of a part of Chicago.

It’s actually based on a photo I took from the L…the Brown Line, to be exact, and it’s just a composition and color rough for a potential future painting.

And it’s not big. I scrawled it on the back of a large index card, just to get the idea down while it was fresh in my head.  Rather than bust open a new box of pastel crayons, I did this with tiny leftover pieces, some of them half an inch long. I didn’t need to go for precision here, since it’s just a rough.

Looking at it a few weeks later, I think it works as some kind of semi-abstract expressionistic thing, or something. So now you get to see it here, to start your week.
