This week’s Monday morning Art is a digital painting of a Christmas tree. It didn’t really start out that way. You can click on the above image to see it larger. After the jump you can see the backwards evolution of how we wound up with this finished image after starting with a random doodle.

 

Before it was a digital pastel, it looked like this…

That was after an Impasto version had been turned negative and then had it’s color’s reversed and tweaked…

That was after a Japanese illustration program had torn into it.

Before that step I had this semi-psychedelic version, which derived from a manpulated effected design…

Above was a collapsed version of this design…

This was after colors were added to a negative of this one…

Which was itelf a negative of this image, with the aspect ratio changed…

And that the second step, a kaleidospcope filter applied to the original doodle…

Doesn’t look much like a tree, does it?
