Monday Morning Art: Smoky

This week, and for at least the two following, we are still using photos I took on our way back from Chicago recently. It’s based on our slow meander through the South Side of Chicago, during what is normally a brief part of the trip where Amtrak’s Cardinal rides on an elevated track.

Most of the time, this passes in mere minutes, but due to mechanical issues, it took us about an hour to travel the relatively short distance. It’s turned out to be a goldmine of inspiration for me, artistically.

This week, I switched to using pastel crayons because they were a little easier for me to use with my MG-impaired hands, and it also made the clean-up a lot easier. Our subject is a cool, but lonely-looking building that sports a single smokestack. I thought it look cool in the pre-dusk light.
