As always, there are cool things happening in town. Here’s a quick look at our midweek offerings…

Wednesday

DSC01581_1295312586At Gorby’s Music in South Charleston, from 7 PM to 10 PM tonight, Master Guitarist, Richard Gilewitz brings back tips and tales from his September trip to the UK and Ireland. A short concert will be followed by a Q & A session.

There’s a one hour GillaCamp Guitar Power Session at 5pm for beginners and advanced players. You can get a personal evaluation of, and attention to speed bumps, hiccups in your playing, or any other areas (only guitar) that might be getting in the way of your playing a particular tune or style. The camp is $30. The event at 7 PM is free.

1238109_584687708254788_340078705_nAt the Blue Parrot at 9 PM, it’s the first night that Charleston’s Hump-Day Hooligan’s Presents: Comedy Open Mic Night at The Blue Parrot.

Headlining the first show will be Marcus Oglesby, with the local feature comedian, Andy Frampton. The show starts promptly at 9 PM, with a $5.00 cover.

Rick Perdue will let loose with the loops on guitar at The Boulevard Tavern, as he does every Wednesday at 10 PM. You never know who is going to show up and jam with Rick.

Thursday

1374134_234007566755571_371997861_nThe Third Eye Cabaret marks it’s 43rd edition as Charleston’s most Bohemian den of coolness with guests Burr Beard, The Gypsy Stars, Appalachian Celtic Consort and Mark Stuart, plus The BrotherSisters, 3EC’s impeccable house band. The fun begins at 8 PM at 8 Capitol Street.

MOJO’s Comedy Night, the incubator of the local comedy scene, welcomes back Patrick Felton as its host and instigator this week. You chance to hear the best of our growing comedy scene starts at 9 PM and is free of charge.

Rick Perdue brings his looping guitar gear to EZ Street, on Winfield Road in Saint Albans at 9 PM with no cover.
