This week we’re going back to revisit some art from the early days of the PopCult blog, before the art was posted weekly and available on overpriced T Shirts.  This is a digital painting of my kid sister at the beach.  Enjoy!

You guys know the drill.  When production of Radio Free Charleston doesn’t go completely according to plan, something’s gotta give.  Due to the weekly production schedules, family members going to the ER, and Professor Danger coming out of retirment, Monday Morning Art will become Tuesday Morning Art once again this week.  We even had to skip seeing The Ghosts Of Now open for Unknown Hinson, we were spread so thin.

Our new show, featuring music from Aurora and Voices Of Anatole, new animation, and slovenly table manners from The No Pants Players, will go online tomorrow. Look for detailed production notes here in PopCult for “Shark Boy Shirt.”  Meanwhile, look at this drawing of my guitar that I did in five seconds with my mouse.  

We’re in such a rush!  First up this evening we have a taping for episode 22 of Radio Free Charleston.  The next show will feature music from Voices Of Anatole (fresh from their gig opening for Godsmack) and Aurora.  Plus we’ll have BRAND NEW animation from Frank Panucci, and the No Pants Players will eat a watermelon. 

After our early-evening taping, we’re heading to Rand for XMCW Professional Wrestling.  I understand it’s going to be a dangerous night.  

After that, exhaustion permitting, we might drop by The Sound Factory and catch The Ghosts Of Now, who can be seen on episode 21 of Radio Free Charleston, as they open for Unknown Hinson. 

Tomorrow morning, Under The Radar, our other musical guest from episode 21 of RFC will be performing at Appalachian Power Park as part of the Smoke On The Water Regional Chilifest.

Saturday night at the Labelle Theater in South Charleston we’ll be part of the festival of short films, and we’ll make an announcement about another special night at the Labelle, so be sure to come and watch the Gazz staff cringe as I take questions from the audience. 

Sunday I got a show to edit.  Radio Free Charleston doesn’t produce itself.  Also, the Cool Thing Of The Week will hit Sunday night. 

Episode 21 of Radio Free Charleston, featuring Under The Radar, The Ghosts Of Now, a short film by Sean Richardson and Alon Kutchinsky, and vintage beer animation is online now!This episodes is called “Yellow Submarine Shirt.”  In a bit of kismet, we shot the host segments right after I ran into Guy Parker from the band Rubber Soul at the Blue Parrot.  Rubber Soul just performed side one of the Yellow Submarine album last week at Beatlefest in Louisville. This week’s dose of Monday morning pretentiousness is a simple photograph–not digitally assaulted or enhanced.  I shot this last month on the night where I took all the photos at the dress rehearsal for the WVSO production of “Carmen” that we ran in PopCult.   This is a shot, taken from front-row center, looking back at the empty Maier Performance Hall, located in the Clay Center.  It was taken during a break between acts three and four of the opera.  I liked the way it looked, so I didn’t have at it with my digital weapons of mass distortion.
