The Marx Toy Museum Reopens

One of the coolest places in the state, The Marx Toy Museum, is open again after their annual Winter hiatus. Located at 915 Second Street in Moundsville, their hours are 11 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.

Marx Toys was the company that first unleashed green army men and a plethora of plastic playsets on the world, along with the original Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots, Big Loo, Johnny West, Big Wheel, and an entire universe of licensed toys, from Popeye and Dick Tracy to Disney, Hanna-Barbera and Marvel.

This is the second year for this big, regional comic book convention, and since this time the organizers wisely picked a new date (last year’s was on the same weekend as MEGO Meet in Wheeling), the PopCult crew will be going. In fact, the plan is to shoot host segments for RFC 183 at Tricon.

Kickstart Starstruck’s Harry Palmer

The PopCult Bookshelf

Back in 2010 I wrote about the original Starstruck remastered series, which has since been collected into book form by IDW. And I also told you about the Audiocomics adaptation of Starstruck.

Old Time Toys

I know I usually cover modern toys, things like action figures and cool pop culture stuff like that, but this week we’re going old school to look at a company located right here in West Virginia that makes high-quality, old-fashioned toys that are sold all over the world.
