This week’s art is an Impressionistic pastel piece inspired by the view out the window of Amtrak’s Cardinal as it approaches the station in Washington DC.

By that point in our trip, on the way to NYC, it was dark and I was barely awake, and with the fog, rain and night, the river and sky had an eerie sheen….which seemed appropriate for Halloween week.

This was done largely with pastel crayons on textured paper, with a bit of acrylic touch-up here and there. It’s a bit of a departure from what I’ve been doing the last few years, but I think it sort of works.
