Sunday Evening Video: Vintage MEGO Commercials

This week, in honor of the just-concluded MEGO Meet in Columbus, we’re bringing you almost an hour of classic MEGO toy commercials from the 1970s.

Over the weekend, Marty Abrams, the man who helmed MEGO during it’s heyday, announced that, with the help of and prodding from Paul Clarke (Doc MEGO), is bringing back the MEGO company, with a new line that will present action figures of a variety of nostalgic properties, in a wide range of sizes.

Aside from Jimi Hendrix, all the other lines coming from the new MEGO are being kept under wraps, but it’s expected that more will be announced in a couple of weeks at another MEGO convention in New York. We’ll have plenty to tell you about the new MEGO in the coming weeks.

Anyway, above you see some of the finest toy commercials of their time. This includes the Superhero and Star Trek figures that made MEGO famous, but also brings you their commercials for lesser-known lines like Action Jackson, Dynah Mite and the infamous boardgame, Ball Buster.
