Up there, that’s “Dread Crew of Oddwood Shirt,” episode 205 of Radio Free Charleston. This week we have a great show with music from Chad Foss and Sean Sydnor, The Big Bad and Travis Egnor, plus a new Prelinger compilation from Frank Panucci, but first we lead off with a couple of cool vintage toy commercials.

Host segments were shot in the Lee Street Parking Building at The Charleston Town Center…for no reason.

Chad Foss and Sean Sydnor

I was digging around in my archives looking for cool stuff to feature on the new audio version of Radio Free Charleston on New Appalachian Radio and I found footage that I shot in March, 2011 of Chad Foss and Sean Sydnor. I’ve used material that we recorded that night on Radio Free Charleston before, and earlier this year we used more on an episode of The RFC MINI SHOW, but there was one great song that hadn’t seen the light of day yet, so now we bring you Chad Foss and Sean Sydnor with a cover of “Where I’m Going” by Down.

Let us Prelinger

Let us Prelinger

It had been a while since we’ve had one of my brother Frank’s weird compilations of public domain footage on the show, so we pulled another one out of the video pile.

Our animation this week is also our second song. Aaron Romero, from the band Antennas Punx, has created a really cool 8-bit animated video for The Big Bad‘s song, “We Own This Town.” And they said we could bring it to you. It’s a cool video for a great song.

Aaron has produced a bunch of these great retro-videogame-style music videos and it’s well worth your time to seek them out on YouTube. This song is on the new CD from The Big Bad, and it makes for a great Christmas present.

Playing us out we have Travis Egnor, making his RFC debut with an acoustic cover of one of the songs on his latest album with his band, The Horse Traders (which also makes a great Christmas present). We get to hearTravis with “Southbound 65,” recorded at Third Eye Cabaret. Special thanks to Eric Meadows for a major assist with the audio.
