Sunday Evening Videos: Football!

In observation of Super Bowl Sunday, here’s a look at how kids used to play football, back before the advent of video games.

Yes folks, that was the prehistoric equivalent of “Madden 2010” or whatever NFL game it is that these kids today play on their video game machine.

More of the wonders of Electric Football, also known as “The Giant Metal Vibrator,” after the jump….

Thanks for the memories – my dad still remembers fondly one of his old electronic football toys. I don’t know the name but you probably might. It used “play cards” that were projected under a clear plastic playing field with a lightbulb (I think) – I was only about four at the time, does it ring a bell with you? Kathy

An old girlfriend of mine used to take my electric football plaything into the bathroom with her for hours at a time. I don’t know what she did with it, but she messed it all up somehow. It smelled funny. I had to throw it away.

Last I heard, that girl was in an assisted living facility. Yeah, I’m old. Bite me.
