This week we’re going to go back to a sunny day in September. It was at the Oktoberfest fundraiser at Appalachian Power Park. Whistlepunk was playing. Beer was flowing, for those who enjoy that sort of thing. And I was trying out my new Canon Powershot 630. This is a digitally-assaulted photograph of the Contemporary Galleries building and its neighbors, taken from the beer deck of Power Park. There’s the usual amount of digital fiddling to create the image you see above–contrast, color manipulation, cropping, squooshing, etc.

An addendum to last week’s Monday Morning Art, a photo of RFC Big Shot, Melanie Larch: I’ve had a few emails from people doubting that someone like Mel, who has performed on stage for years and routinely sings in front of thousands of people, could really be that camera-shy. As proof, let me offer up the photo below. Before last week, when I took that shot of Melanie that I used as Monday Morning Art, this was the best photo that I had of Mel. Coincidentally, that was taken on the same day as today’s Monday Morning Art.
Just for the record folks….I didn’t receive one thin dime from the good people at Pepsi! 😉
And yes, I really DO hate being photographed.
Hey…that pitcher up top…the orange’n’blue one. You should have introduced it with, “Ladies and gentlemen – MR. BILL DING“.
The top one is vaguely Mondrian, but the bottom one is like Magritte slap-fighting with Andy Warhol.
